Techniq Terp-Tank Talk: ZkittleZ

Techniq is a top shelf product line of full spectrum, terpene-rich vape cartridges. This line only uses premier flower and partners with top shelf farms from around the state of washington, hand-selecting unique strains to make liquid gold in cartridge form. This has been one of my favorite vaping experiences I have had yet. Every strain has a rich, full bodied flavor, it is the closest thing to taking a real dab I have found yet in vape cartridge form. Each strain also comes with its own stats card that lists everything about the product from the genetics, to how it was grown, extracted, and what the smoking experience will be like.

Zkittlez

This delightful tasty strain is a cross of Grape Ape and Grapefruit. Zkittlez is an indica leaning hybrid that is very euphoric, creative, and relaxing which is good for video gaming, watching tv, or calming some nerves before going to socialize. Not the type of indica to put you to bed, unless maybe you smoke enough of it. 

This Zkittlez comes from Hella Loud and they grew this strain in a coco-coir medium. Coco-coir is known to often produce bigger yields when growing cannabis. What is coco-coir? Everything from the inner shell to the outer shell of the coconut can be used to make coco-coir. Not only is this growing medium nutrient rich, it is also great because it is already at the right Ph level that cannabis requires to grow. Cannabis is a picky plant, and the correct Ph can often be achieved through the addition of chemicals, but why go through the hassle and risk shocking your plants by mistake when you can just use coco-coir? 

Hella Loud also used Gavita lights to grow this strain. These lights use double-ended high pressure sodium bulbs. This allows for the cannabis plants to produce very high yields by providing more light intensity and photosynthetically active radiation compared to standard growing lights. Photosynthetically active radiation refers to the range of light that plants are able to use for photosynthesis in order to grow. So to summarize, these lights provide a broader spectrum of light for plants to grow under which in turn allows them to grow faster and bigger producing larger harvests.

This handy-dandy stat card also lets us know that the cure of this strain was used with “dry product kept in turkey bags after trim with exception of a daily ‘burp’ to release moisture. Products continue to cure in the jar until sale”. Curing is just as important as the grow, trim, or extraction. It is an essential part of the process that can make or break the quality of a strain. The cure heavily affects the look, flavor, aroma, and even potency of the buds. As cannabis cures, gases, moisture, and pressure build up within the container. When one is “burping” cannabis, they open the container that the cannabis is curing in to release the built up gases moisture and pressure, ensuring that the bud doesn’t become damaged.
