Puffco Peak Indiglow

Puffco has always been on the forefront of dabbing technology and innovations. Starting with the original Puffco Peak in January of 2018, they quickly released 8 new limited edition versions over the next couple years. The upgraded Puffco Peak Pro released in October 2020 and had huge functionality upgrades such as a 40% larger chamber, a bluetooth app to customize LED lights and to customize your vaporizing temperatures, USB-C charging and the option to buy a wireless charging base. The first limited edition Puffco Peak Pro was released in June 2021 and was the Opal edition. The latest addition to the Puffco Peak Pro family Is the limited edition Indiglow. I got mine from our very own Locals Culture House and let me just say, I am in love.

The Indiglow

The Indiglow Puffco Peak Pro features a beautiful purple to blue color on the base that continues into the glass and transitions back into purple. The glass design is inspired by sacred geometry patterns on both the interior and exterior glass. This design allows the colors to refract beautifully within the glass to offer quite the visual experience. The new design isn’t all about looks though, the design of this glass actually makes the glass splash proof! This was quite the happy surprise for me because that was one thing I did not enjoy about the old design of the Puffco Peak Pro glass, I would often get water in my mouth on the old glass. The base of the indiglow allows more LED lights to shine through the base compared to the original Peak Pro, making it a more visual experience all the way around. 

App Experience

Another special feature with the Indiglow is the visually upgraded app experience. You will have the same functionality as the old app experience, it will just look a whole lot cooler. The main screen of the app you can view the name your piece, your current active heat profile, see your current bowl temperature, your average daily dabs, and total lifetime dabs. 

In the top right corner you can further customize your device. You can adjust the brightness of the lights, turn off your device, edit boost mode settings, and enter lantern, ready, or stealth mode.

Boost Mode

Boost mode is a function that activates when you double click the button on your Puffco while you are in the middle of taking a dab. This will add a pre-set temperature and length of time to your dabbing sesion, helping to finish off any remaining concentrate in your chamber. I have mine set to add 18 degrees and 15 seconds on boost, but play around and see what works best for you. 

Lantern Mode

This fun section of the app allows you to play with the visual experience. Use the color wheel to change the color of the peak or use one of the fun three light effects on the bottom. In order left to right, first is the pulsating mode, followed by the wave which slowly spins the light around your device, and lastly my favorite, the disco mode which will make your device glow every possible color it can. Pro tip, click your peak button three times while dabbing to activate disco mode!

Ready Mode and Stealth Mode

With the purchase of the Puffco Power Dock, you may activate ready mode. When the Puffco Peak is on the Power Dock and in Ready Mode, every time the Peak is lifted off the base it will turn on your device and start heating it for a dab. This is great for smoke sessions with friends. The Power Dock will also keep your device charged, can act as a portable charger, and can also charge other usb devices on the go.

Stealth Mode will turn off all the lights on your device except for the logo on the backside. This is great if you’re in a situation where the bright lights aren’t needed on the device or it can help save battery life. 

Heat Profiles

The app will also allow you to customize the heat profiles you have saved to your device. You are allowed 4 active heat profiles and up to 25 saved profiles that you can keep on deck to swap out as you please. On each heat profile you can change the temperature, color, name, and duration that your Puffco is heating. Once set up, click the button once to cycle through the profiles. 

Remote Access

If you tap the Puffco on your home screen it will allow you to start your device remotely. I find this helpful mostly when I am dabbing with friends who aren’t used to the puffco since I can start it for them easily. Once fully heated, the screen will allow you to add either more time or heat to your current session. This can be nice if you want to add one or the other to your session and not both since boost mode will add both at once. And again I find the option to add time or temperature to the session from my phone handy when I am dabbing with friends. Sometimes they don’t realize when to start dabbing or if they are hit by the power of the Puffco and get distracted coughing for half the session, I can add more time from my phone so they can continue the session instead of having to start from scratch. 

Maintenance

To keep your Puffco clean, it is important to use a Q-tip to swab the chamber after every session. Emptying the water after every session is recommended. I will admit I am lazy and will do it every few sessions and seem to be fine, but every session is best. It is very important to never get water into the bottom section of your glass as this will leak into your device and cause issues. When it is time to clean your chamber and carb cap, simply just twist the chamber off and submerge it into 99% Isopropyl alcohol for approximately 30 minutes. Allow it to dry and twist it back on. It is recommended to do one heat cycle before loading any concentrates just to burn off anything left behind. 

Summary

Overall, I am a big fan of Puffco products. The Puffco Peak Indiglow has been the ultimate visual and dabbing experience and I could not be happier. I have been the proud owner of a Mini Nail for over two years now, and surprisingly enough, this Indiglow both hits me harder and I get a much richer flavor from my concentrates. I haven’t touched my Mini Nail since my purchase and will probably only use it when my Puffco is dead.
