Terp Talk: Pinene

A-PINENE

Terp Talk: Pinene

There are more than 150 different types of terpenes found in the cannabis plant. Each terpene contributes to the aroma, flavor, and effect that cannabis provides.

Flavors like citrus, mint, herbal, minty, and effects produced by terpenes can make users feel euphoric, relaxed, or focused for a few examples. One of my personal favorite terpenes is Pinene.

Alpha Pinene

I love the flavor of pinene.  It reminds me of a fresh forest of pine trees.  After I learned some more about pinene it made some sense to me why I really enjoy it. My favorite type of cannabis to smoke is sativas. I prefer the uplifted, clear headed, and focused effects. Funny enough, pinene is known for increasing alertness and focus.

Studies have also shown that pinene can also work as an anti-inflammatory, bronchodilator (Expands the airways of your lungs), can increase cognitive function and can potentially combat the memory loss associated with THC. One of my favorite strains to represent both the flavors and effects of pinene is Pine Queen Dream by Western Cultured.

This strain instantly became my new favorite sativa strain as soon as I smoked it.

Crossing Pine Queen Haze x Blue Dream, this strain instantly rushes you with a fresh pine flavor and has a sweet, slightly berry after taste. The effect is clear headed, focused, creative and uplifted. The perfect strain for any day time activity.

Other Pinene Strains

Some other popular strains that are high in pinene include God’s Gift, Grape Ape, Blue Dream, and AK-47. Have your Locals Chill Coordinator help find the right strain for you!
