Locals Tours Green Bluff Greenhouse
This week, the Locals team had the opportunity to tour Green Bluff Greenhouse and taste cider at Twilight, the family cidery.
Green Bluff Greenhouse is a tier 1 cannabis producer situated in the heart Green Bluff, Washington. They position themselves as hands-on, boutique growers that specialize in heirloom Sativa strains.
The care put into these plants is apparent in just by looking at the flower. Joel makes the 1 part nutrient used on all the plants himself. This nutrient is the only nutrient used throughout the cannabis plant’s entire lifetime. For the clones, a two-cup method is used to protect the roots from getting exposed to any sunlight.
Since they are working with landrace strains that originated all over the world, the grow team does their best to let each plant grow through its natural stages to reach its full potential before moving out of veg. That means some strains can take up to 10 months before they are ready to be harvested.
Once the plants are ready to be moved out of veg, Rick and his family will create an even flower canopy from single plants. The idea came from methods used at the Roening family fruit farm and is modeled after the peach tree. This enables them to get the maximum yield from each individual plant.
The company’s carbon footprint is also very important to the family, so they have various methods that make the operation more sustainable. Absolutely no pesticides in growing their cannabis, and instead, beneficial bugs are used. Bags of these bugs are placed on the plants. The bugs will stay in the bag unless they sense another bug on the plant that doesn’t belong. Once prey is suspected, the beneficial bug will leave the bag to eat the prey. What’s even more amazing is these bugs leave absolutely no residue on the plants. The team also uses sustainable methods of heating and cooling by utilizing fans to move hot and cold air from different rooms of the building into the growing facility.
Right now, Local’s carries the following strains on a rotating basis:
- Columbian Gold CBD
- Panama Red
- Red Congolese
- Thai Stick
- Thai Cherry
- Solace
- Acapulco Gold
While many of these strains are customer favorites, Green Bluff Greenhouse is always innovating! Keep an eye out for new strains like Afgoo and Tropical Trip coming soon! To see what’s in-house now, check out our online menu here.
